Job Description

Sepura Ltd are looking for a Mechanical Verification Technician to join the team and be involved in the whole lifecycle of product development

Working as part of a dynamic team and interfacing with other technical disciplines, responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Testing electro-mechanical development products according to product test specifications and generating appropriate test reports
  • Assembly of PLC controlled pneumatic test fixtures to aid product testing
  • Cataloguing development test samples
  • Maintenance of departmental equipment
  • Controlling departmental consumables 
  • Use of workshop equipment and tools to make minor modifications to development products
  • Assembly of product components according to design documentation ready for mechanical verification testing
  • Ability to drive to test houses to perform external testing and preparing test fixtures for that 

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Relevant apprenticeship/diploma in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Full, clean driving licence 

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of electro-mechanical test
  • Previous experience of PLC programming - (basic)

Desirable

  • Relevant experience (>3 years) 
  • Experience working in a medium size 'high tech' company
  • Relevant experience in test of class leading telecoms/datacomms equipment
  • Previous experience of design/specification of development jigs and fixtures
  • Previous experience of design/specification of development test equipment
  • Previous experience of testing broadband products

Skills

Essential

  • Understanding of mechanical and/or electronic drawings and principles
  • Knowledge and use of measuring instruments
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and pneumatic control - (basic)
  • Basic mechanical workshop skills (drilling and tapping, Dremel, hand tools)
  • Ability to communicate well to both technical and non-technical personnel using verbal and written styles
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

Desirable

  • PLC programming - Mitsubishi Alpha
  • Statistical analysis of test data
  • Wiring to electrical schematics
  • Soldering
