Your role

Sepura Ltd are looking to recruit a highly motivated team player with a minimum 5 years' commercial audio engineering experience. The successful candidate will have proven acoustic design expertise within the consumer electronics industry, and good analytical and co-ordination skills

 

Your day to day

Our customer base includes many different industries and markets around the world. Our complete TETRA and LTE solutions have been developed specifically for users in multiple sectors to face their critical communications challenges

There is no such thing as a typical day here at Sepura. You will be supported by your manager and team, as well as collaborating with other departments across the business. The technical engineering activities for which you will be responsible for include:

  • Acoustic design and optimisation of new radio terminal products and accessories, including transducer selection and evaluation, modelling the transducer cavities, and steering the mechanical design
  • Ownership of the acoustic test equipment, measurement methodology and test standards, including the creation and implementation of a continuous improvement roadmap for the acoustic test environment
  • Resolution of design and integration issues
  • Technical support to suppliers, internal and external customers
  • Ensuring product quality through close co-operation with our contract manufacturers
  • Creation of design and test documentation, and technical requirements analysis
  • Co-ordination with key stakeholders to prioritise, estimate and schedule team tasks, report progress and provide technical guidance
  • Identification of skills gaps and proposal of internal and external training 
  • Audio algorithm specification and tuning

Job Requirements

What you need to succeed

Qualifications 

  • A degree level qualification in Acoustic Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years' commercial audio engineering experience

Skills and experience

  • Full product lifecycle experience
  • Experience of audio amplifiers, audio codecs and transducers
  • Practical experience of evaluating audio signal processing techniques (echo cancellation, noise reduction etc.)
  • Experience of speech quality measurement techniques
  • Working to and testing against acoustic safety standards
  • Good MATLAB programming skills
  • Head and Torso Simulator (HATS) experience
  • Experience working in an Anechoic Chamber
  • Experience working with portable radio devices
  • Design for medium volume product manufacture
  • Microphone beamformer design

Nice to have

  • Audio electronics, including audio circuit design and design for EMC compliance
  • Audio algorithms DSP development
