Job Description

As a Principal Electronics Engineer at Sepura Ltd, you would be involved in the whole lifecycle of product development from concept and prototype stages, through to production and support. You will have technical responsibility for work package delivery, mentoring opportunities for less Senior Engineers and a strong background of board level digital design, enjoy problem solving and be a good communicator


Main duties will include:

  • Technical design and specification of baseband circuitry for radio terminal products
    - Complete subsystem design and implementation 
    - Integration with RF, Audio and MMI subsystems
    - Component specification and sourcing
    - Design and test documentation
    - Schematic creation and PCB layout supervision
  • Technical requirements analysis
  • Resolution of design and integration issues
  • Type approval support
  • Technical support to end customers
  • Progress reporting to project team and line manager



Job Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline


  • Minimum 12 years' electronics design experience



  • Microprocessor and microcontroller design
  • Design using memory devices such as DDR and eMMC
  • Extensive design using high speed digital interfaces such as Gigabit ethernet, USB3.0, PCle, HDMI
  • PCB layout rules for high speed digital design above 3Gbps
  • Efficient circuit design for handheld battery powered products
  • Design for EMC/ESD protection
  • Design for Manufacturing and Test


  • Intrinsically safe product design
  • Design work relating to radio products
  • Power supply design (analogue and SMPS)
  • Signal integrity (using tools such as Hyperlinx)
  • Scripting using Python
  • Mentor DX designer
  • Analogue design and circuit simulation
  • Lithium Polymer batteries
  • Design for medium volume product manufacture
  • Experience with Sepura broadband product
