Job Description

As a Product Definition Engineer you will play a pivotal role within the organisation, using your wide ranging technical skills and commercial awareness to bridge the gap between the commercial and development organisations.

As a member of the Product Definition Team, you will define the detailed functionality of Sepura's products for a wide variety of commercially important projects.

You will work with Product Managers, Senior Development Engineers, and the wider business to:

  • understand feature, product, and system requirements and constraints, and in doing so help clarify the scope of projects
  • clarify and develop the requirements and associated user stories to guide definition of product and feature functionality
  • document and maintain product and feature specifications using descriptive language (e.g. function points)

You will be the custodian of the developed requirements, disseminate them to stakeholders throughout the organisation, and become one of the go-to knowledge experts on product and feature functionality.

You will assist Product Owners to create user story acceptance criteria and to understand user story interdependencies.

Technical skills and experience:

As an ideal candidate for this role, you will have experience of the following:

  • requirements elicitation, management and tracking in an Agile environment;
  • writing descriptive functional specifications using written English;
  • writing interface specifications;
  • ground-up product development in embedded C and/or in Android service layer;
  • layered wireless communications protocols such as P25, TETRA, GSM, UMTS, LTE;
  • related products and technologies, such as wireless connectivity, USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth;
  • working in a flexible Agile project-based environment


  • security concepts and technologies, for example encryptions, authentication and key management;
  • customer-facing experience and/or experience of working with customer or sales support teams
