Job Description

Sepura PLC, a leading global supplier of critical communication radio systems, has a vacancy for a Software Support and Release Engineer. The successful candidate will work within a small, focused team managing and providing support on a variety of Windows and Linux based tools used across the full software development lifecycle of Sepura's Critical Communications Radios and Management Applications.

You will be involved in evaluating, acquiring, installing, configuring, extending, administering and providing support to developers on tools for software version control, configuration, management, continuous build, integration, testing, analysis and delivery. Examples include: Ansible, Artifactory, FinalBuilder, Incredibuild, JIRA, Klocwork, Perforce, TeamCity, Visual Studio, etc.

This opportunity is well suited to an enthusiastic engineer with a couple of years of experience in software build, test and release; and some experience in software applications/tools support and administration.

Job Requirements

You will be required to:

  • respond to tools support requests for incidents impacting normal development
  • investigate cause and provide resolution or a temporary workaround for a quick return to operational status whilst you engage with suppliers to provide permanent fix
  • develop and extend software build and release tools (using Perl, Python, Java, JavaScript) as required by the developers
  • provide training to software developers and other users on these tools
  • develop and maintain automated System Tests scripts - mainly in Python
  • analyse build results and deliver builds and reports internally

Technical skills (essential):

  • developed problem management skills
  • technical working understanding of Software Systems and Software/application customer support skills
  • PC & Server hardware architecture and Windows/Linux OS functionality to an administration level
  • experience programming in a number of these languages: Bash, C#, Java, JavaScript, Perl, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, etc.
  • a working knowledge of MS SQL database structure and queries

Techncial skills (desirable):

  • a working knowledge of MS Office applications
  • a strong academic record including good A-levels and a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a scientific or engineering related subject
