Job Description

Working closely with the Test Equipment Engineering team, the Test Equipment Architect will lead the strategy for the specification and design of manufacturing test systems for use in the next generation of mission critical broadband digital radio products. This interesting role reports to the Test Equipment Team Leader and will be responsible for setting and implementing the technical direction of test solutions.

Main duties:

  • Working with the product and technology roadmap to develop the technical direction of the Broadband product manufacturing test solutions
  • Leading the test strategy for product manufacturing 
  • Collaborating with the Product Development teams to guide design for test techniques
  • Architecting test solutions in line with requirements
  • Technical ownership of the realisation of test systems
  • Supporting installation into Contract Manufacturing sites
  • The role will involve travel outside of UK to contract manufacturers to support or install test equipment

Job Requirements

Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in medium to high volume manufacturing of electronic products
  • Experienced in design for test
  • Well versed in Electronic circuit design
  • Significant experience in delivering solutions to complex problems through a logical process
  • Able to demonstrate experience of taking responsibility for making pragmatic decisions
  • Commercial awareness

Desirable:

  • Experience in Broadband communication products and technologies
  • Appreciation of the requirements for Test Equipment maintenance
  • Experience of data and statistical analysis

Skills

Experience:

  • Knowledge and use of controlling instruments to make low level measurements
  • Electronic circuit design skills including schematic entry and circuit simulation 
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan for self and others
  • Proven ability to communicate in a variety of formats with an appreciation of target audience
  • Appreciation of hardware and software interdependencies

Desirable:

  • Experience of C# and writing Android based applications would be beneficial 
  • A knowledge of RF theory would be an advantage
  • Experience in technical leadership of a design team
