Job Description
Do you have a strong background in technical administration with experience in deploying Windows and security products? Sepura are hiring a Windows Systems Administrator to provide break/fix and refinements to existing IT systems, contributing to technology road maps and enhance the desktop computer environment
The role holder should strengthen current IT practices, maintain a culture of sharing and be keen to develop new technical skills. An understanding of emerging technologies and approaches will be essential to enhance the department and deliver value
Specific responsibilities include:
- Close engagement with the desktop support team to define the Sepura standard build and deployment mechanism
- Evaluate, implement and support infrastructure which enhances the desktop user experience
- Coordinate the review and delivery of desktop and server security updates
- Provide 3rd line escalation/support for desktop systems
- Support core Windows infrastructure (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS)
- Provide business-as-usual / break-fix support for solutions deployed within Sepura
- Maintain backup infrastructure
- Research products and service and contribute to the IT enhancement backlog
- Proactively communicate the status, plan of action(s), and resolution(s) of issues
- Participate in root cause analysis activities
This job involves occasional travel so the successful candidate will have a full, clean driving licence and their own car. Travel expenses will be paid
The candidate must already have, or be able to obtain, UK Security Clearance

Qualifications
Essential:
- A-levels/HND qualification
Desirable:
- ITIL qualification (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) or equivalent IT Service Management certification or experience
Skills and experience
Essential:
- Minimum 4 years' experience in IT role
- Significant exposure to SCCM
- Strong Windows desktop and server support skills
- Administration and maintenance of System Centre Configuration Manager
- Definition of Windows 10 standard builds including supporting technologies (Windows Deployment Services) and in-place operating system upgrade/OS lifecycle management
- Desktop and server patch management SCCM/WSUS
- Software packaging, distribution and reporting experience
- Deploying secure compute configuration using Group Policy
- Experience managing antivirus/endpoint security products
- Significant experience in technical administration roles covering Hardware and Softwre
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and experience
- Exposure to backup technologies
Desirable:
- Practical administration experience of Microsoft Exchange or Office 365
- Exposure to Mobile Device Management solutions
- Dell Server hardware and system management tools
- Exposure to virtualisation technologies
- Remote Desktop Services
- Understanding of industry trends and emerging threats
- Experience of scripting/automation languages
- Administration of desktop and mobile telephony solutions
- Exposure to CyberEssentials or ISO27001
