Job Description

The Sepura Group, owned by Hytera Communications Corporation Limited, is a global leader in the design, manufacture and supply of digital radio products, systems and applications developed specifically for business and mission critical communications. Due to internal expansion we now have a vacancy for a Senior PCB Design Engineer.

Based in our Cambridge development centre and reporting to the PCB Design Team Leader the applicant would be involved in the whole lifecycle of product development from concept and prototype stages, through to production and support.

This role requires experience and skills across the full Printed Circuit Board development lifecycle; from technical specification and Schematic Capture through Prototype and Pre-Production design and verification, and into mass production.

Work scope:

  • PCB and FPC Layout, Place and Route
  • Schematic Capture
  • CAD Part Library Creation
  • Post Processing for Fabrication and Assembly
  • Arrangement of Prototype Builds
  • Technical support to internal customers and external suppliers
  • Progress reporting to project team and line manager

Job Requirements

 

Essential Technical skills:

The applicant should have skills and experience in most of the following areas:

  • Siemens Mentor Expedition VX
  • Schematic Capture Using Mentor DxDesigner
  • Design for Multilayer HDI, RF and High Speed
  • Design of Flexible Printed Circuits
  • Constraint Management
  • Controlled Impedance and Differential Pairs
  • Micro, blind and buried via Design
  • PCB Stackup Analysis and Creation
  • Post Processing for Fabrication and Assembly
  • Producing PCB Drawings and Bills of Material
  • Understanding of PCB Manufacturing techniques
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

Desirable Technical skills:

Ideally the applicant will have skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Mentor Library Management
  • Valor DFM Checks of ODB++ data
  • Mentor 3D modelling software
  • Intrinsically safe product design
  • Design work relating to communications products
  • Ordering of Prototype PCBs and Assemblies
  • Interpreting First Article Inspection data
  • Design for medium volume product manufacture

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years PCB design experience
  • Minimum 3 years Mentor Expedition workflow experience
